Meteorologists are closely monitoring Tropical Storm Humberto, which has formed in the central Atlantic and could soon intensify into a powerful hurricane. As the season’s eighth named storm, Humberto is currently about 500 miles east of the Leeward Islands, moving northwest with sustained winds of 60 mph.
Forecasters warn that Humberto could reach Category 2 or even Category 3 hurricane status within the next 72 hours, depending on sea surface temperatures and atmospheric conditions. While much uncertainty remains about its exact path, the storm is expected to approach Bermuda and potentially threaten parts of the US East Coast by early next week.
